Spring 2019 Junior Associates selection round opens

Junior researchers have until 16.00 on April 12th to apply

After the 2019 call for LSST:UK Affiliate PIs and Junior Associates, the LSST:UK PI Selection Committee considered the idea of having more frequent calls for Junior Associates, to provide a faster route for early-career researchers to engage with LSST. We are pleased to confirm that this move has been supported by the Consortium Board and, henceforth, we will run calls for LSST:UK Junior Associates on a quarterly basis. Note that this is specifically for Junior Associates: Affiliate PI applications will, however, continue to be considered on an annual basis. A further change to the application process is that candidate JAs may now nominate themselves, in addition to the existing option of being nominated by a potential mentor.

The Application Form for the Spring 2019 Junior Associates round is available through the JISC Online Surveys site at https://edinburgh.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/spring-2019-lsst-junior-associate-application-form and it will remain open until 16:00 on Friday 12th April.

As part of the nomination process, each candidate will be asked to agree to the terms of the LSST:UK Code of Conduct and of the Memorandum of Agreement between STFC and the LSST Corporation. The candidates may read these agreements and confirm their acceptance at https://edinburgh.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/lsstuk-code-of-conduct

Only about one quarter of the current JAs are female, so the Consortium particularly encourages applications from women, as well as from those who will increase the diversity of the JA list in other ways.
