New Project Scientist

Election of Stephen Smartt to LSST:UK Project Scientist role

We are pleased to announce that Stephen Smartt from Queen's University Belfast has been elected to be the new LSST:UK Project Scientist. Stephen has been actively involved in LSST:UK since its inception, currently representing QUB on the Consortium Board, acting as Point of Contact for Transients and Variable Stars within the Science Working Group, and leading the Phase A workpackage developing a transient alert broker.

Stephen was elected by the Consortium Board, upon the recommendation of a search committee that assessed submissions from a very strong pool of applicants. The search committee thanks all those who applied for this position and looks forward to their continued involvement in LSST:UK.
