A new feature from the University of Oxford highlights how its researchers are helping to maximise the impact of the Rubin Observatory.
The article features insights from scientists involved in different aspects of the Rubin Observatory, from helping to get UK participation in the project off the ground to developing the instruments that make Rubin such a groundbreaking endeavour.
One of the scientists interviewed is Professor Roger Davies, whose early passion for the Rubin project helped to galvanise funding for what was to become LSST:UK. In 2014, Professor Davies became the first Director of the Hintze Centre for Astrophysical Surveys at Oxford University; it was through the Centre that he established Oxford as a partner in the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), several years before the UK as a whole formally joined.
